BIG BROTHER 21

It's Paul's House, They're Just Living In It..

King Paul is playing Big Brother this year and his fellow house guests are just on a TV show this summer. I didn't give Paul enough credit coming into this season. I thought his power was going to give him too much comfort and end up booting from the house early in the game. He has definitely proven me wrong and not only played a great game so far, but he has played the house like a fiddle.

Jessica and Cody have been the only pair on to Paul's antics, but the rest of the house seems to be under his spell. Last week would have been a perfect opportunity to take out the King himself, but somehow Paul was saved from the block. He then convinced the entire house to keep the biggest and loudest target in the house, Josh.

With Paul as the new HOH and Jessica holding the hex, Marlena is in trouble. Mark and Elena chased power last week and it got them caught on the wrong side of the vote. They are now in Paul's cross hairs and are going to need a huge distraction to keep them both safe.

Another new twist this season is the new Temptation competition. This is going to throw a wrench in the nominations since the the winner is not eligible to be nominated and the loser is an automatic nominee. This will save some huge targets and make targets of some unlucky house guests that are flying under the radar. I think the temptation will get the best of some house guests otherwise playing a low key game.

I see Paul playing this week as smart as he can and trying get the hex played and flushed out of the game, but only time will tell. Whatever happens, the drama will certainly be entertaining.

Sunday's episode left us with Paul nominating both Alex and Josh for eviction. As we all know, Alex and Josh were both pawns to ultimately backdoor Cody. Cody deserved the backdoor after his poor ruling in last weeks events. Ramses also nominated himself after being cursed by the snake in Week 1. This plan seemed to have everyone on board except for "Jody", but they had distanced themselves into a corner all week to get away from the others anyway. They saw it coming from a mile away; as they should have.

All of the houseguest said their bedtime prayers late Friday night and hoped that neither Jessica or Cody were drawn for the veto. Saturday morning brought a veto draw that did not disappoint. Both Matt and Elena were drawn to play in a timed competition. Each houseguest would play the Travel Themed veto with hopes of having the best time.

It was already determined that everyone but Ramses and Alex would play for the veto. Ramses winning the shiny golden power would completely derail the plan to backdoor Cody. Each player worked their way through departure gates, similar to last years house theme, while fighting for the veto. All the house guests had trouble remembering the fine details required to avoid delays in their trip. Elena was the best to watch, she got stuck with nearly every delay. My favorite delay was the karate chop stop; I guess I'm flying through the wrong airports if that's an option during a layover.

Ramses said he "tried" to throw the competition, but it really looked as if he was trying to play for it to remove himself from the block. When the final times came in, Paul narrowly beat our Ramses to secure the veto and ensure his plan of backdooring Cody was a success.

Paul has been playing great so far, but his temptation has allowed him to take a few more risks than I think he should have. He keeps encouraging fights, especially with Josh and "Jody". It all unfolded at the veto ceremony when Josh called out Cody for his poor showmanship during last weeks HOH. This lead to a huge blowout at the meeting, with Paul standing on the side smiling. I love the drama, but I think people will put it together before long and send Paul packing.

My favorites for right now are Matt and Dominique. They are quiet, but very smart. They know when to speak and who to open up to. They seem to have themselves tucked into the larger alliance very nicely with no one talking about evicting them anytime soon.

Can't wait to see how the house shifts after tonight's eviction. My guess is Jessica doesn't win it and she is next to Ramses on the black this week, but we all know that wouldn't be Big Brother.

Cody's HOH or lack there of...

The game started out with quite a week to say the least. I don’t think anyone was surprised when Cody took the first HOH this season. He was out for blood from the beginning. The cool kids looked to sweep the week with Cody in the driver’s seat, but Cody had other plans. I called it pre-season; Cody was going to play too hard right from the get go. He definitely didn’t disappoint any of us. He’s also become on of the most disliked player to ever play Big Brother.

Picture
Cody kicked off the week by nominating Jillian and Megan, but in a strange turn of events Megan decided to leave the game. It was all over a comment that Jessica made by the pool to her alliance about Alex by the pool by calling her Pao Pao from season 16. Megan relayed the message back to Alex, but told her they called her a Panda. Megan let misunderstanding get the best her ending her own game. This forced Cody to replace her with Alex. After making three people an enemy, the POV was sure to be a nail biter.

The Power of Veto was hosted by my personal favorite, Kevin. I have to say he was the best “Merman” I have ever seen. The players consisted of Alex and Jillian, the nominees, Cody, the HOH, Raven, Matt, and Jason. They all dressed up on snorkel gear with hopes in stacking the most starfish before their water timer ran out. No surprise to anyone, there was a temptation during the competition up for grabs. Raven was able to snag the Never a Have Not pass for the entire summer.

The competition came down to the wire with the final three, Alex, Jillian, and Cody fighting it out until the end. Cody ultimately threw the competition by giving the win to Alex. This guy has no strategy. He had already made a bigger target out of himself by putting three nominees on the block, but no he had to replace them with another.

Picture
His solid alliance were all in agreement to go after anyone else available from “The Outsiders”, but Cody had other plans. He obviously did not consider the backlash he would get from putting one of his own on the block; he definitely didn’t consider Paul winning the Den of Temptation. At the veto meeting, Alex used her POV to remove herself from the block. It was then Cody’s time to “SHINE”. TV gold was about to unfold.

Cody nominated Paul for eviction and as we all knew, Paul played his “Pendant of Protection” and saved himself. A logical player would have cut his losses and put up an “Outsider”, but Cody is far from logical. He then proceeded to put up Christmas on the block. It was a total to shock to everyone in the house. It completely drew a line in the sand and put Cody and Jessica on one side of the house and the rest of the houseguests on the other.

Picture
Cody was so oblivious to how bad his move was for his showmance and himself; he continued to believe his former alliance would have his back. Everyone banded together to save Christmas and completely derail Cody’s plan. By a vote of 8-4, Jillian was evicted from the Big Brother house.

After a few words back and forth between Jessica and Christmas, the houseguest then went to the backyard to compete for HOH. I didn’t think it was possible for Cody to have a more sour face than normal, but during the HOH he proved me completely wrong. It was nice to know that he could show emotion though. Regret looked great on him.  HAHA.

After a “Candy Crush” filled competition, Paul came away with the HOH. Cody handed over his HOH key to the Vet and the entire house celebrated Jessica’s loss. The clear agenda this week is to evict “JODY” from the house. I think we all hope that Cody gets what he has coming, an overdone dish of crow.
